What does a fractional CTO actually do for an early-stage startup?
A fractional CTO covers the technical decisions a founding team cannot own yet: stack selection, architecture, vendor choices, developer oversight, and product roadmap. I stay involved in delivery, not just strategy, which means founders get a working product, not a slide deck.
How long does it take to ship an MVP with you?
Most MVPs take 8-12 weeks from discovery to launch, depending on complexity. AI-powered features typically add 2-3 weeks if they involve custom LLM workflows, retrieval, or multi-step automation.
What AI technologies do you work with?
I work with OpenAI APIs, embeddings, function calling, vector search, LangChain-style orchestration patterns, and custom LLM workflows. On the application layer I use Flutter, React, Next.js, Node.js, TypeScript, Hasura, PostgreSQL, Firebase, and related full-stack tools.
Do you work with non-technical founders?
Yes. Most founder engagements involve translating product vision into engineering reality, documenting decisions clearly, and keeping scope honest so a non-technical team can make informed tradeoffs.
What's your typical engagement structure and cost?
Engagements usually start with discovery, then move into an MVP sprint, fractional CTO cadence, or defined product build. Cost depends on scope, timeline, and delivery ownership, so I scope the work before committing to a budget.
What industries have you built AI products for?
My work spans health and wellness, consumer marketplaces, enterprise knowledge workflows, real estate discovery, fitness, mobile streaming, and interior design tools. Recent AI work includes wellness systems, copilots, chatbot builders, and LLM workflow products.
Are you available for remote engagements?
Yes. I am based in Las Vegas, Nevada on Pacific Time and work with clients remotely. Most engagements use async communication by default with focused live sessions when decisions need to move quickly.
